Paint a Garage Door

Lately we have had a couple of customers that have painted their garage doors. The results have been bad because the customers did not adhere to a certain type of paint.

Keep in mind that garage doors come in a variety of colors and can be ordered to match just about any paint scheme, exterior decoration, and color. So painting a garage door can be an added expense and can get more expensive if you do not use the correct kind of paint.

What is acrylic paint?

Acrylic paint is a fast drying water soluble paint that becomes water resistant when dry.  Acrylic paint will not crack or stick together. Acrylic paint comes in a gloss or matte finish, and cannot be removed once it is applied. The acrylic paint adheres to the surface.

DO NOT use a latex paint on a garage door, your door will stick in the seams!

How to paint the garage door:

Before painting any surface, thoroughly wash the surface with warm water and soap!

You can keep your garage door closed to paint the main parts of the panels. Avoid painting the seams and the insides of the seams unless you open the door a little at time to paint the seams.

Just remember you can choose any color of garage door without the added expense of paint!
